Removing Small Dents

Hey, what’s up? This is Kalen from Carpanion. We’re doing a little bit of dent repair on a quarter panel on a 2019 Honda Accord. Not sure how it happened, but the customer picked up a couple dents right here below the gas lid.

You can see, so what I’m doing is I’m using a technique called glue pole, where I use hot glue and a glue tab, I put it in the center of the dent and use a slide hammer to pull the dent out as best we can, and then if we need to, we finish it up with full knock out.

So one thing I want to impart to you guys, if you ever try to do glue pulling on your own? You know, take time to get good at it. But let’s just say you want to learn it. Something to note what kind of glue you’re using. You get this stuff from Walmart, super cheap.

It will work. It’s also not designed for pulling dents. They make specific glue for doing PDR or Paintless Dent Repair. This is black, I believe you’re supposed to use this in like wintertime. They make other kinds –  red, you know, for summer, it works with different types of humidity and temperatures.

The other thing that I want to mention is your glue gun that you’re gonna pick up from Walmart. Usually they don’t have heat settings. All PDR glue is meant to be used on high temp. The hotter it gets, it’ll get a better bond. Better to pull the dent out. But you need to be careful because there are some glues and there’s some instances like, let’s say the vehicles been painted before. You can try to glue pull it and it’s been painted, there’s a chance you might pull the paint with it, especially if you’re using PDR, so you gotta be careful and can’t go too aggressive with it. Keep that in your mind.
